NKJV Psalm 14:1 The fool has said in his heart,
“There is no God.”
They are corrupt,
They have done abominable works,
There is none who does good.
I am an agnostic. I do not believe in God. It appears my Bible is broken, it says that I am a fool and corrupt.
See also Romans 1:28-31
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, 30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful;
Despite the fact that I do not believe as Paul does that Jesus is the sun of God, I love, I forgive, I give mercy, I have never murdered,

I served 4 years in the military of the United States so that theists could worship their God and have their Bible. They are free to think as they wish, I would only offer this, under my first amendment right,
What is wrong with my Bible?

at one time in ALL of our lives, the Bible has told us the same thing! because by God's standards you are a fool if you think there is no God. I know that sounds harsh, but you are no different than any of us were before accepting Christ as our savior.
this will never make any sense to you, until you come to a point when you realize that even your best behavior and your most wonderful deeds in life are not good enough to stand before a Holy God.
by the way, I think I read that you were in the military for 4 years, for that I would like to thank you for caring about people that you didn't even know existed (me) and even, then cared enough to lay down your life for our (my) freedom.
thank you!

You know what, man. Believe what you want to believe. That is what this time is for. God ISN'T sending any more prophets until after rapture. I don't care, I will be in Heaven so I WON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT IT. That is where the blessing for Christians that believe since the passing of Christ is. We don't witness the miracles the Jews saw in the Old Testament.
If you read the Old Testament in the Bible it is full of miracles. Many people saw and were amazed and many people believed when they saw Jesus and the Prophets operate.
That's not going to happen and if it did you have to ask yourself the question, would you even believe or would you be like the Jews and the Greeks.
Don't go back in the Bible though, continue forward. Look in Revelations. The Battle of Armeggedon is fought one or two days travel from where the Isreali Army is right now. Revelations goes on to tell Us that that a pure Jewish Army will meet the enemy in battle there. This reality including, all the crazy weather, earthquakes and so forth are "The beginning of sorrows". Just wait until the United States and all these other "nice places" are THIRD WORLD COUNTRIES.
So, if you want to think your Bible is broke. WEAR YOURSELF OUT!!! DO WHAT YOU WANT TO DO!!! Do it because that is your reward, that is ALL YOU WANT and ALL YOU'RE GOING TO GET.
You say your Bible is Broke. That's the same thing as saying God is broke.
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." (John 1:1)
So what you are saying is a pretty vain statement.
Or you can do yourself a favor and read Proverbs as well as First and Second Corinthians, believe in God, get saved and go to Heaven with the rest of Us.
if my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14)
You think that just because you "think" you love, forgive, have been merciful and haven't murdered anyone that you are "special"? Sounds pretty vain. Plus I can guarantee you that you are NOT God. What's more, I'm sure Hitler, Edie Amin, Saddam Huessien, Vlad the Impaler, and other megalomaniacs all displayed all those qualities at one time or another.
That "I loved and forgave" mess actually sounds like an incantation from the Egyptian "Book of the Dead". How Ironic...

Most of the time bible verses are written for specific situations. So it is very possible the authors are referring to a groups of people that did commit those sins and who were corrupt and foolish who did not believe in God. Christianity isn't about a bunch of rules or one person being better than another. The first and second commandments aren't "follow all my rules and act like a stuck-up jerk to the guy next door". Which I am sorry to say happen too much. It is about a relationship. I am sure that for whatever reason you believe what you do is a valid one. I am glad that you are reading the bible and asking questions and challenging people. There are far to many people that accept the beliefs that were given to them by their parent or pastor of even a high school biology teacher.
I need to address an issue
oldschooldude- Read 1 Peter 3:15 the last little part of it says with gentlness and respect or fear and reverance(depending on the translation) so please keep that in mind.

There is nothing wrong with your Bible. But, you can't just pick one verse and take it literally. You have to take it in context, read what the verses before and after say. If you do not believe in God, then the Bible is nothing more than a book to you, so take a chill, get a different book to read one that you might CAN understand. It's your right to believe as you want, but, it don't make sense to pick apart the Bible when you do not believe in it. If you are truly trying to understand, just sit and read. Not a verse here and there, no book would make since like that, read a whole chapter from the begining. It is also a great history book, and has all forms of literature..... poetry, drama, narrative... and for non-believers, it is quite a storybook.

There is nothing wrong with your bible you have rejected your Father in Heaven and His Son.....you can go through your life rejecting all you want, and He has given you that choice...you can be the best person in the world, by your standards..and you might just be...but like so many in the last days on this earth...you take the chance of being among those who will wail and gnashing of teeth...but the thing is...can you forgive all of those people that were given up to their own lusts and lives like God can and like Christians can? ...Hell is the grave...the endless sleep...where the dead know nothing..so if that is the life you chose,...that is your choice...basically, that is what the Bible is all about...take your sides...I cast my vote for God and for Jesus...Their Will I will do my best ...you can be forgiven for any of your sins...He loves you too...He loves you but you are spiritually blind..and is waiting for you...but your preference to serve Satan is the life you have chosen at least for now...I pray you will get on the right side before it is too late....

Just so that you know.... it's not just you who is a fool and an abomination.... for if you read elsewhere you will see that the Bible clearly states ..... "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God" not just you. It's not a matter of what you have done wrong in your life, but a matter that from Adam & Eve the entire creation has fallen and in Jesus all creation can be healed. Whether or not you choose to believe this is totally up to you, but in rejecting it without careful consideration, you reject '' the way, the truth, and the light" " for no one comes to the Father, but by Him"...... sorry don't mean to preach... just seems to me that if you weren't looking for real answers you wouldn't have needed to come here with a question such as you did....... and by the way May God Bless You for your service to our nation and may His Light shine upon you so that you may see the truth...

If you insist on making foolish claims and arguments in public, do your self a favor and learn just a little bit of your stance. You claim to be an agnostic, then proceed to explain your foolish reasoning. AN AGNOSTIC IS ONE WHO DOES NOT KNOW IF GOD EXISTS BUT ADMITS THEY DON'T KNOW IF GOD DOES NOT EXIST. The word you are looking for atheist which you will notice is a "theist" as you spoke against. I'll give you another word to worry over, I am a gnostic.
ps Paul never said Jesus was the "sun" of GOD.

Your Bible isn't broken...you are taking verses out of context. All of mankind is sinful because of what happened in the Garden of Eden (Genesis). If you are troubled by what you find in the verses you have pulled out, you need to study the Bible, so you can learn the meaning behind what you are reading. First and foremost, try praying to the Holy Spirit to give you the gift of discernment and wisdom as you read the Bible...and consider joining a Bible study group or just go to a Bible based church as ask for help with your questions. God is working on you!

It's not your Bible that is broke, but your heart. Fill it with the Holy Spirit and the love of the Lord and you will be saved. You are only a "fool" if you do not believe. You can change that by seeking the Lord and accepting His power and presence. He exists and He can help you find the truth and the way.

I think you have taken those particular passages out of context.
The OT can surely be hard to interpret, because it tends to make broad generalizations of groups of people like that.
The Bible is NOT saying that all atheists/agnostics are bad people, just that they are more vulnerable to do bad things than the followers of God, who have His guidance to do what is right.
I know you're thinking that there are just as many or more Christians or Theists that have done the evil acts you quoted, but even if that was true (which I won't debate here) we have God's mercy to fall back on and to ask forgiveness from, whereas atheists and agnostics do not, due to their rejection of Him.
Sorry to say that your Bible is fine, but rather your unguided reason (albeit very powerful reason) that is flawed.
I do appreciate your military service to our country and your giving spirit - you're on the straight and narrow path as they say, it just could use a little more straightening, as we all could.
