Well it depends... what exactly is "good" and what is "bad"? How would you establish what is good or bad? And does the balance between good and bad really exist... I'm not just saying that to p!ss you off really, It's just that... Some people do the wrong thing for a good reason... and there are people who will do the right thing for the wrong reason... I think the whole good vs bad thing is a very grey concept... You get good people that do bad things and bad people that do good things...
In my life, many of the really bad times, tought me some of the best lessons I have learned so far in life. And many of the stuff that felt good at the time... turned out to be BAD experiences in the end.

I hope I would be toppling the scales on the good side. I try to live a good life. I donate my money and time to help others. I try to follow the laws of the Lord and the land. I show compassion and love for my fellow man. I don't want the scale of good and bad to be in balance.

I would find balance in accepting both and learning to respond to each with gratitude for the good being good and the bad not being worse. All things work together for good for those who love the Lord and are called according to his purposes.

Is goodness and badness on a weighted scale then, or is it a contuum along which we can search for the best way of dealing with problems as they arise and according to each situation?

Because this question involves thinking, you will probably get very few responses. I'll give it a go....I would say that my good far outweighs my bad. I find balance with God.

The only balance one will ever find is found in Jesus.

It really IS that simple.

I'm a sinner. I do good things and bad. I regret the bad things that I do. I'd like to think that I do more good than evil. I've been forgiven for my sins. I'm good in God's eyes, due to the death of His Son.

to me there is no good and bad its all just what it is. our perception can label something, but in my experiences those so called bad things ended up being blessings and leading me to be the man i am today. so there for everything coming at me is just experiences that form the man i am.

The Word of God. It's not a scale. Its as simple as black and white. You either know Christ or you dont. Its not about what you do but who you know. Do you know Christ as your Lord and forgiver today?
