If your God is a forgiving God then, yes, you would. He would understand why you did it. Maybe the test was to see what you would do after you were released. Would you go back to your old ways or would you grow closer to him. The will to live is strong. I'd do it in a heartbeat. My God knows my heart, he knows that I am not denouncing him, but choosing life in order to better serve him...

That is easier said than done, until you are put in the same position as the journalists, and because the terrorists are like dumb donkeys and do want ever their leader says, they showed the world their ignorance of religion because a person can only convert to a faith, if his heart wants to.

how do we know it wasn't staged or they weren't brain washed in this. like that man that was undercover and supposedly joined their cause. get a grip people. the men who kill in front of a video camera are crazy. we don't kill for public viewing. we don't kidnap and show them being tortured for everyone to see. yeah that group of soldiers in that prison was very very stupid and those men where mistreated badly. but they got Caught and charge and prosecuted. these men are trying to save face to stay alive. they shouldn't have denounced god to save their lives. but how do we know they weren't threatened over the issue of their loved ones.

Journalists are largely godless liberals who have no-One to denounce.

I would... but I know that God understands that I didn't denounce him of my own free will.... and that I didn't truly mean it. He's smarter than that and I would never denounce Him truly...

the people who say they would never denounce their faith are either LYING or simply just crazy as hell. don't you think your "god" would forgive you? i mean if he's soooo great don't you think he'd overlook a little white lie? if he can't overlook something like that, i don't see why you'd bother to have faith in such an egotistical god. but hey it's your life, if "faith" is what keeps you from crying yourself to sleep at night and pullin out your hair from stress...good for you.
but just one more thing....if you really would sacrifice yourself over something so measley....perhaps it wouldn't be a bad thing...one less crazy makes for a saner and happier place :)

They must never had true faith to begin with to capitulate so easily. If they were professed Christians, they are hell bound now. They denied the Holy Spirit and Christ. Would have been better for them if they were tortured brutally and murdered.

No. You have to stand for something or you'll fall for anything. I would not be able to look at myself ever again if I did something like that. I do not wish to rush to my death but I would rather die knowing I was doing what was right then being a coward.

I would not denounce God to save my life. However, if they were threatening to kill my child, then I would, and tell them to kill me instead. God would understand in that case.
