I assume you are a young man, probably under 20. So take my advice as a veteran. Never, ever steal your best friend's woman. It's not worth it at all. Your friends are so much more important than girls - girls come and go, your buddies are for life. That being said, if you meet someone who has a boyfriend, but you don't know the guy...fair game.

I would just not go there. This is your best friend, right? Unless you want your friendship to go on bad terms. I would think about it first and stop letting your friend below your belt tell you what to do.
