For about two weeks now I've been walking/jogging for 30-40 minutes, but I don't really feel like I'm losing any weight. For various reasons, I don't own a scale and I won't see one until next month. How should I know if I'm doing things right or if I should change a little more of my lifestyle?

You'll know it cause you'll have more energy, be more cheerful, and you won't be as hungry as you used to be. After the first two weeks you'll feel your clothes getting bigger, and you'll have even more energy. You'll feel restless if you can't exercise. And you'll be pleasantly surprised when you get on the scale. You probably lost pounds during the first two weeks but that's usually water weight...that's why you didn't feel thinner. The real rewards come after the first two weeks.
Of course, you have to change your eating habits too; I assume you've been doing that. Keep up the good work!

30 minutes a day or a week? if you expected to lose a pound for every hour of excercise or something, you've been lied to. you may not have lost anything in a month but don't act like 30 minutes a day of escercise is wasted. it propably added a month to your heart. in a month you should be going further in your 30 min than when you started. focus on the process and the results come.

If you have an article of clothing that was tight, or that you couldn't get into at all, use it as a frame of reference for how you are doing. I have been a weight watcher for years and they encourage you not to let the scale rule you but rather to base it on how your clothing fits.

You will probably need a scale to lose weight successfully, With a scale, you stop eating for the day when you weigh one pound less than you did the day before.

When you first begin diet and exercise you actually gain weight because muscle weighs more than fat. Just keep going and you'll do great.
