I like it very much! Unique names are becoming more frequent within society, because people are getting tired of the same ole', same ole'. Differentiation is the spice of life, plus it would make your daughter more unique as a person, I believe. If the "Stars" can name their children some the whacked out names that they do now-adays, Nyoka seems very mild, comparitively speaking. On top of that, I think it is very pretty! Is there a specific meaning behind it? Regardless, I say, "Go for it!"

Personally, I don't like this name very much. It is rather close to Nokia, the cell phone maker, but that's not why I don't like it. It simply sounds too made up, and it has no sweetness or strength about it, both of which I think are important in choosing a girl's name.

It's pathetic! How the hell do you even pronounce it? Why would you be so selfish to even consider giving your child a name that people will find out, not be able to pronounce, wonder how to pronounce, etc... etc.... Come on, you don't have to name her Mary or Jane but for gripes sake pick something more normal that isn't going to make your kid stand out like a sore thumb. Picture the first day of school every year, the poor teacher trying to pronounce the name and your daughter readying herself for what ever mispronunciation the teacher is going to say.

So great if you live in Africa, where it will be recognized but if not my opinion still stands.

I am all for unique names. I have one, or used to. It is becoming popular, but I am not a fan of this one. It sounds like a phone or something. Try to find something you like that is unique but can be understood. Good luck!!

I totally agree, it sounds like a cell phone.
But hey, go ahead and name a child that name and she will hate you for the rest of your life.

I agree with the cell phone comment.... but you certainly won't find anyone else with that name around.
