Because from a literal interpretation Islam is meant to be in control of the government. It represses those who do not adhere to its beliefs, interpreted in many cases as belief tax, forced conversions, enslavement, and even death.

There is a radical movement within the Muslim community to restore the Caliphate. This type of government would be akin to when the Catholic Church ruled western civilization with its inquisitions, crusades, and other miscellaneous imprisonments or killings of heretics.

IMO theocracies are down right evil forces. Those that do not subscribe to their beliefs often pay painful consequences. The only major religions that subscribe to theocratic rule are ancient Judaism and Islam. All other religions that I know of are not theocratic based, though they may have an influence on culture and government.

Ancient Judaism is defunct, Christianity is no longer theocratic which was Romanized and based its rule off of Old Testament laws, but Islam being the youngest of the three is unquestionable theocratic and many it's adherents are actively trying to set up such systems. Iran is the primary example but to not much less of a degree Afghanistan, Pakistan, and most recently the Sudan and Somalia are being assumed by this fascist ideology.

If people do not stand up and fight this evil i guarantee without a doubt the world will be assumed. I do not think that will happen completely but much suffering will happen in this attempt.

The suffering in part will be linked to how much free loving cultures enable what inevitability is coming our way. Anyone remember Lord of the rings. One of the Hobbits wanted to go back to the Shire instead of fighting. His friend wisely counseled him that there would be no Shire to go back to if they did not stand up and fight then and there. I know this is a movie but nevertheless this is the spirit of the situation we are in. Fight this ideology or be assimilated into the collective so to speak.

The West isn't afraid of Islam. Our problem lies with those striving to return the Caliph to the bloodline of Muhammad and that follow the twelve Imams, the Shi'a. There are people claiming to be Shi'a that have declared anything that is not Muslim to be evil and must be destroyed, particularly Western culture. This is a small number of Islamic people and not the entire religion. Osama bi Laden and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad are a couple of these believers.

I can only speak for myself, and people that I know. I don't know any people here that are afraid of the islamic religion, but we are concerned with fanatics. I would be concerned about any kind of fanatic, but it seems to me that Islamic fanatics are being taken advantage of by people like Osama Bin Laden. Also, seeing news stories about Muslims having demostrations in which many signs say things like All infidels must die doesn't inspire a lot of confidence.

So I guess we are afraid because every day we see or hear something from the Muslims on the news that reads that Muslims hate us and want to see us all dead.

Quite simply, because people claiming to be adherents of the Islamic religion, have terrorized the West in the name of that religion. Muslims are a minority in the West, and therefore, most people probably do not even know any Muslims in their real life, and therefore, all they know about it is that some people claiming to be Muslims are killing their innocent neighbors.

The US isn't afraid of Islam! It's the religious nuts who follow Islam that we worry about.

The "west" might not like Islam rejecting Jesus Christ as divine (or part of God for those that don't understand the word divine in the Christian usage).

Are you kidding? You don't listen to what's going on the world or what? Islamic terrorists have created a very bad image of the Muslim faith. When we see nut balls on TV vowing to kill Americans, or worse yet chopping the heads off of our countrymen it tends to leave a bad impression as they say they are dojng it in the name of allah.

I'm not afraid of your religion. I believe in the one true God and my believe in the Lord frees me from fear. And why do you keep calling us "the west"? The world is round. How do you know which is west and which is east on a round planet?
