Most cats are taught to use the litter box by thier mothers, but you can teach them too. First, the litter box needs to be in a place where the kitten can access it easily, and you need to take the kitten there and show it where the box is. Then you need to place the waste into the box and reward the cat with either tuna or playtime. When the kitten goes for itself, lavish it with praise, tell it what a good baby it is, play with it and give it treats. Also, you need to find out what time your kitty likes to use the bathroom and take it to the box BEFORE it messes. That'll help a lot.

Generally kittens shouldn't ( leave home ) until they are litter trained by the mother cat. But anyway, what you have to do is make sure you have a box that is just the right size for your kitten, to enable him to get in and out easily with enough room to move around in. The litter too should only be enough for him to cover his business, not overly too full. Also the location is important, easily able to get at, privacy is important.
Now to train, you;ll have to place him in his box once every hour until you notice him going to it by himself. If he does something when you put him there make sure you give him praise. If you happen to see him pawing the carpet or newspaper, it's a good indication that he needs to use the box. If he has accidents, make sure to clean up right away to keep him from returning to the same spot. Household cleaners do not do a good enough job to eliminate the or our ( as a cat's smell sense is very keen ), try using a product called " Febreeze ".
All of this will take time and a lot of patience from you, don't punish him when he messes up as cat's don't understand what your going on about.

If u catch ur cat going the bathroom out ov a litter box u move it there till its done, then ir you find there presents on a carpet u move it into there litter box so eventually they learn and it becomes instinct. You also have to tell em they were good and give em lots ov attentino after they went in the litter box so they no what they did made u happy.

You can take the kitten's poop and put it in the litter box then show the kitten. If It pee's show the kitten it's pee and take her and put her in her litter box. Keep doing this until she finally gets it. If she dosn't get it have her watch as your other cats go to the bathroom in the LITTER BOX!

You have to watch her and when she starts to go you pick her up and put her in the litter box. It is really unusual for a cat not to want to use the litter. You might want to limit her space for awhile until she is used to the location of the box and accustomed to using it. Good luck!

I don,t know how you would teach a kitten that.I have a cat and she just used it automatically when I got her. Is the litter box in a place that,s convenient for her to get to?

It is pretty much instinct for kittens. I have fostered over 40 litters and have never had to teach them to use it. This behavior usually is the result of a medical condition like worms,coccidia,giardia........you need to get the kitten to the vet and take a poop sample. Also make sure you are feeding a MEAT based dry food. Too much corn can make them poop a lot and not get to the box.

all that you should have to do is to place your kitten in his litter box. now you should do this frequently, try at least every half hour or so until the kitten starts to use it. it should be pretty immediate. i have had dozens of cats and raised all most all of them since 6 weeks old or so

most kittens learn this from watching there mothers. I would try putting the kitty in the box and take her paws and make her dig a little bit. When she defecates outside of the box, place iit and the cat in the box and help her bury it.

Just put them in a clean litter box and show them how to scratch and claw at the litter. I know it sounds kinda cruel but when they mess in the floor stick their nose in it.
