Do you think americans can solve the illegal immigration problem?

There is only one way of doing it actually: STOP HIRING ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS.
If we keep hiring them, they will obviosuly stay and if we don't they obviously won't. or what do you think?

Not as long as people with money and power run the country. Blue collar workers are the only people who do not want the illigal immigrants here. All illegals, NOT just mexicans. People who have the money and the power like the fact that they can have cheap labor and make more money for themselves. They also don't see what their less influential Americans (us) see and deal with on a daily basis. After all, they ( illigal immigrants) leave the rich neighborhoods by 5:00 or when the yard is finished or the pool is clean. They don't have to worry about working 2 or three jobs to pay the bills because they can't get a job that will pay enough to take care of their families. Mexicans are not the only people who can have children, however, Americans, both black and white are discouraged from having more than they can provide for. Mexicans are excused from this due to religion (so I am told) So basically long story short. As long as people with the money and the power control the country, No illilgal immigration will not be solved. (they will shuffle their feet, just enough to make you think they are working on it.) but nothing will change:( :(

First, you have to tell me what the problem is. What is the illegal immigation "problem."

Is it that they are taking jobs nobody wants?

Or is it that they are driving down pay for low-paying jobs because they will take far less for the same job as citizens (in which case, the solution is to increase the minimum wage and -- ENFORCE THE LAW).

Is the problem that we are hiring illegal immigrants. The answer - ENFORCE THE LAW -- if we start punishing employers, they will stop hiring the illegal immigrants (if we just deport the workers, they keep coming back, but business owners seem to have a desire to stay out of jail).

Is the problem that they are receiving benefits? Then ENFORCE the law, or change the law to limit benefits to the amount of taxes paid into the program.

Is the problem that there is over-population in America? If so, then we need to really step-up the border patrol and put up a big-assed fence (of course, its expensive, but it would solve a problem).

So, first define what the real problem is that you want to alleviate. However, MOST of the problems identified by various interest groups would be eliminated through the enforcement of existing laws, without the need for enacting any additional legislation.

The Department of Justice is prosecuting two border patrol agents for doing their jobs. The National Guard that Bush put on the Border is not allowed to carry guns. And I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT the Government is hiring non-American citizens for law enforcement jobs.

If amnesty is granted to every illegal alien here. What does America do with the rest of the population in Mexico. Mexico refuses to solve it's own problems. Mexico is a prime example of a country with everthing going down the gutter. yet the country is cursed and continues to flaunt every GODLESS act day after day which. You're absolutely right, fine them heavily, and put them out of business if that's what it takes. If people are operating businesses within the borders of the United States, and they're doing so illegally, shut em down. There's plenty of people that are willing to do piece-work out in the fields, all that stuff is just so much propaganda. It wouldn't hurt quite a few people to get out there and get their hands dirty, either. Shut down welfare, shut down illegal immigration, solve 2 problems by getting americans back out there. My grandparents worked the fields, they weren't from Mexico, they lived 'til their 80's, must not be quite as bad as people make out. End the hype, end the illegal employment, end the illegal immigration, put Mexico solidly on a path to its' own independent reforms, and have done with the whole mess.

I worked at a company in Princeton NJ, & someone walked into the mailroom & yelled the INS was out front, the whole place about cleared out...Princeton is not any where near the border & yet...they lived all over that town.

I agree. But, people are cheap, many of the places hiring illegals won't stop because many immigrants don't ask for a lot of money. Its sad, but true. I hate that.
