There's always a way to avoid a war. Whether it be diplomacy, funding, or meeting another country in the middle. If the country we are warring is poor and needs funding, why waste money on war and death when we could give them some money so they wouldn't have to war. War is a stupid move that has become an accepted normalicy in the American country due to the great leaders in office. War shouldn't be an accepted part of life. We should do whatever we can to avoid war. War is just an end product of stubborness and greed.

"sure. to gain FREEDOM for our country."
Gain freedom? Don't we have freedom?
War can be good.... see WWII... Personally if a country is under attack it has the right to defend itself. It doesn't have the right to kill civilians.
I used to be a big ol' hippy... Now I'm more moderate. I hate war... I hate it entirely... but I won't speak of things that I haven't experienced. I don't know at all what feelings were like in WWII.. the Civil war or any other time like that.
Maybe someday we'll have so much war it will tire us out and there'll be a day where not a single bullet is fired. Wouldn't that be huge?

War serves an evolutionary purpose...sort of weeds out the herd, so to speak. The world currently sits at 6.5 billion souls and climbing...mostly in the under developed third world countries. In 50 years, at our current rate of growth, we'll be at around 10 billion people, zero fossil fuels, zero coal and other natural resources.
Whoever's alive will be fighting over water and the remaining natural resources. what will bring the population back down to sustainable levels.....war or some other cataclysmic event....sorry

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing that is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better [people] than himself."

Some wars are good. Often within an oppressive regime the only way to change it is through military force. To break and make a new state often requires military action.

War is never a GOOD thing. Sometimes it's a necessity for defense. I think the war in Afghanistan was in defense of America against the 9/11 attacks. Preemptive war like what's going on in Iraq is not a good thing and should never have happened.

Well, it freed the slaves, won our independence, saved the jews from annhilation, rescued europe from Hitler, took the taliban out of power in afghanistan, so women will not get stoned for showing their ankles, freed Iraq from Saddam, so kurds and shia will not live with the threat of annhilation like the marsh arabs faced (and were annhilated). Gave them the right to vote, same as in afghanistan.
War has done a lot of good things, to name a few.
So what has communism ever done?

War is sometimes necessary. Example: World War II. If we didn't fight against the Germans, we'd be all be Nazi's saluting Adolf Hitler.
