Whilst stopping in a hotel in Spain this year (fully occupied by Spanish residents), every time I attempted a conversation with anyone, they often ended it with something that sounded like "ballet" or "bala"....it was always friendly and I assume it's a Spanish "ok" or something - but would love to know what I was hearing and what it means.....

Thanks!!!

vale, pronounced Ballet, it does mean "ok", or "right" but is used for emphasis in agreement, rather like "exactly". A useful word to know and really easy to use.

Vale it means ok or you could use it in the form of a question Vale? it just depends in what Spanish speaking country you are in, I'm not sure if they would use it in the form of a question in Spain. Adios

The word they used is Vale (emphasis on the val), and indeed it means okay.

It surely was "vale" (from the verb "valer"). And you're right, it means "ok" :)
