Why do some religious people get so condescending when asked legitimate questions about literal interpretations of the Bible, Koran, Torah, etc?

I actually believe many of the fundamental teachings of these religions, and ask questions about things that I do not understand. For example, "Why didn't God inspire any women to write the texts that are the Bible?" was a serious question. Only one answered that the book of Ruth is thought by some scholars to have been written by a woman. Most of the others either bashed me or bashed Christianity. So, I'm now asking religious people to help me understand why all the condescension?

Many religious scriptures don't readily feature women writers or the women's perspective in general. It certainly does not mean we were not there. Your question should not be treated in any condescending manner. It is up to us to figure out what the role of women were and return it to its rightful place in biblical history, all history for that matter.

Judith and Deborah were also prominent women featured in the Hebrew Scriptures.

The book of Ruth was written by Samuel. I can't help you on that condescension question, but I do always answer to the best of my ability based on what the Bible says, even if people do not like it. Sorry they don't like it, but it is a sin to mislead people away from the truth and lie just to please them. People now a days just want to hear what's pleasing to them just as the Bible states; for there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled. 2 Timothy 4:3

many people don´t know that eventhough God revealed the Bible to men, young women actually wrote them. In Arabic and Jewish cultures young women did that because men had problems writing those passages because in those times they didn´t have eyeglasses.
Ruth, Esther and many other women are very important in the Bible, don´t forget the Virgin Mary who played a key role in Jesus´ life...
Another reason can be, that in those times women were not as worthy as a man to write an inspired book, so maybe many women wrote Bible books, but men said they had written them. Even in the 20th century, in English society brilliant women had trouble publishing their books, so their husbands assumed the authorship...
Hope this helps...

The political climate in America has become very polarized with the Republicans taking up the tactics of the early Christian church. They now demonize and degrade people/opinions that do not match their own and being public figures have spoken on these ideas. This is creating a back-lash which, in some circles, is just as fanatic and extreme as the positions they are opposing. I wish we could keep religion out of politics, but someone thinks that it will help them, so here we are.

I'm religious, but i've noticed that. People ask questions sincerely and people start yelling at them. I try to answer the best I can without any emotion. But many times people will attack you if they have doubts, them attacking you makes them feel better about they little knowledge they have. It not very religious to do that. But some religious people who are solid in their beliefs and will answer you will their intellect and not their emotions. It just depends on the person. If i don't know an answer, i just don't answer it. Or say what I do know.

God appeared as a man and had men follow him and be scriptural writers. I has something to do with the left and right side of the brain. Perhaps men in general represent doctrines and truths and woman in general represent affections and loves.

Jesus said he withheld information because people were not ready and Jesus said there would be a second advent of information. Now, many believe Swedenborg's writings as a second advent but many believe it isn't here yet.

"Why didn't God inspire any women to write the texts that are the Bible?"

He did... lol!!

As for the answer to your question>

People will always 'Bash' what they don't comprehend... what does not interest them... what others believe... etc, etc, etc... Especially where 'RELIGION' is concerned... as that is what religion was 'CREATED' for!! And Humans will always be condescending… as this makes them… feel superior to the other!!

Religion will ‘Always’ cause condescension: division: bitterness: anger: hatred: war: etc: etc: etc: as that is what it was conceived to do… to steal… kill… and destroy!! & Don’t it just do that well!?!?!?!?

God is quite clear about the path and way to find Him & Heaven etc… but man will always create more… to suit himself… regardless of God… & this is religion!!

Not all people of faith are condescending. I'm not. Ruth and Esther could have been written by women. It most likely that all those religious texts were written by men because they were from male dominated and led cultures. Some people of faith are so new or unsure of their faith they get mad. Those people are insecure. Find someone of faith who isn't afraid of questions.

people who dont understand things themselves often consider questions of such nature to be unrealistic and negative. when reincarnation is spoken of, those with a Baptist or other religious presence often tend to be offend because certain faiths only teach certain parts of the bible. in the first text of the original bible there was a mother and father GOD(mother GOD is AZNA) and archangels where greatly mentioned, in later years Catholics removed the mother and most of the angels because people were putting "faith" in the angels and the cath's feared it would ruin humanity.

Some people are stupid and do not know a serious question from ones simply asked to get a real answer. Some others are insecure about their faith and hate questions that may show how shaky it is.
