No where in the bible does it say you need baptism to be saved or youll go to hell if you dont. The thief on the cross was accepted in heaven without it, the woman with the issue of blood was told by Christ himself (in the KJV) that her faith saved her and one of the blind men Jesus healed, was told the same. However, i certainly dont want to take away of the importance that Christ commanded us to be baptised. Obedience is huge here. Jesus needed bbaptism as a show of public faith in God and to recieve the ministry He was set out to do. He is the greatest example just as He didnt need to be baptized for salvation neither do we.

Baptism is just an ACKNOWLEDGEMENT of you being saved. Just as long as you are a born again Christian you will be ok, but as a Christian you/your friend should want to be baptized. It suggests in the bible that if u arent baptized its almost as if u r ashamed of him.Another point is, baptism is serious so dnt rush nd get baptized because u feel its the rite thing. Actually think about it.
GOD BLESS!

I don't think someone would be doomed. The thief on the cross didn't get baptized, yet Jesus said he'd be in paradise with him that day. I do think, if we accept Jesus as our savior that we should be baptized, just because Jesus set the example by being baptized himself. However, I do not believe that just because someone didn't get baptized they will go to hell for eternity.

Baptism does not save you. I thought it did too when I was raised in the catholic church. Baptism is the step of faith you take after you have been saved.
Acts 4:10-12
"Then know this; you and all the people of Israel: it is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. He is 'the stone you builders rejected, which has become the capstone' Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved".
Be blessed!
John 3:16-17
For God so loved the world that He sent His only son so that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Read chapter 3 of the book of John - it is all very beautiful.

There is a theory called Baptism By Will, which means that if you wish to be baptised, live a good life and repent for all sins, you are considered to be baptised in the eyes of God. There is also Baprism By Fire, which means if God tests your faith and you pass the test, you are also considered baptised by God.

Don't worry..a man much wiser than the writers of holy texts has offered his opinion about this matter and you have no need to worry.

Thats part of it, but studying the Bible and learning for YOURSELF what God expects is the first step. You and your friend should find a Bible study group to go to together. A group that actually reads the Bible and tries to understand it. Its FACINATING and uplifting.
P.S. To: Selena Bay Bay ---I haven't seen anything like that in the Bible. Don't listen to what people say. Study the New Testament and decide for yourself what these scriptures actually mean.

Baptism
Baptism means (1) to be washed (2) to be buried (to be immersed) and in spiritual meaning, (3) to pass on sin by laying on of hands, as ministered in the Old Testament days.
In the New Testament, the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist was to wash away all the sins of the world. 'The baptism of Jesus' has the meaning of taking away the sins of all mankind, to wash away the sins of the world.
Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist, the representative of all human beings and the High Priest of the lineage of Aaron, and took all the sins of the world upon Himself. This was the purpose of His baptism.
The spiritual meaning of the word 'baptism' is 'to pass on, to be buried.' So, "the baptism of Jesus" means that all sins were passed onto Jesus and that He was judged instead of us. In order to save mankind, Jesus had to take away our sins with His baptism and die for them.
Thus, His death is also the death of you and me, all the sinners of the world, and His resurrection is the resurrection of all people. His sacrifice is the salvation of sinners, and His baptism is the very witness to washing away all the sins of humankind.
The Bible tells us, "There is also an antitype which now saves us, namely baptism" (1 Peter 3:21). The baptism of Jesus is the righteous way of saving all humanity by washing away our sins.
