I think that this is a very interesting question - it's a topic that I have debated on numerous occasions.
The way I see it, is that God is the ultimate - the creator and for lack of a better phrase, "the boss".
Jesus is a separate entity, the Son of God, placed on earth by God to help mankind.
I believe strongly in both, but they are not the same for me.
When Jesus was on the cross, he asks "Father, why have you forsaken Me?"
He wouldn't say this if He and God were the same thing.
If I had to go to Heaven, I believe that I would see God, with Jesus by His side.
I think that through time, Christianity has given the impression that Jesus and God are one and the same. People have tended to accept this without question.
I am a Christian but believe that God gave us the ability to think and therefore question the information we are given. By thinking and questioning, we can ultimately move closer to God.
:-)

It always amazes me that people think Jesus and God are the same! There are so many points in the bible that clearly show they are not one. For example, Jesus was made in the image of God (not looks wise but personality etc) Also when Jesus was crucified he went back to heaven to be at the right hand of God. How can they be the same person?!

Because of the LIE that Satan's organizations keep promulgating.
Even though you claim to be a non-Christian, you believe that our Creator is separate from Jesus and you are correct. Thank-you for asking a highly sensitive question.

If Jesus was human, then his death wouldn't be an adquate sacrifice to pay for all of our sins. Therefore Jesus must be divine. But if Jesus is divine, and God is also divine, then we have two gods, and are in danger of violating the first commandment. Therefore Jesus and God must be one and the same.
At least, that's the logic they came up with at the Council of Nicea. It's been doctrine ever since, and Christians aren't allowed to question doctrine.
Of course, the Truth is that God and Jesus aren't even related. "God" is really just a half-god properly named Yaldabaoth, a bizarre fluke from the realm of deities. He created humans specifically to worship him. Christ was sent by the half-god's mother Sophia to free us from the hell that is this world. And Christ didn't really die on the cross - He switched places with Simon Magus, so it was really Simon who was crucified, while Jesus laughed from the crowd.
Glad I could help clear up the confusion for you.

Why is it hard for some people to believe that Jesus was the Son of God? He was a man on earth sent to live as we live, but He was fully in Spirit with the Lord. He taught us the truth and the way. He then returned to His rightful place with God.

Depends on their religion. Catholics believe that Jesus is the earthly manifestation of God on earth. While prodestants believe that Jesus was Gods son.

Then perhaps you can explain the holy trinity that lists three seperate names.....the father, the son and the holy ghost...and no one gets to God but through me...and Jesus the son of God....so how are they one in the same?????

What religion are you basing that on?
Actually they really are the same. It is called the Trinity. The Son of God, The Father, and the Holy Spirit are the same. If you don't believe that, then you are not a Christian.

God and Jesus are one. Jesus even stated that himself in N.T. Father and Son are one but you cannot dare call God a man(you see the Ancient Jewish mindset.) Son of God correctly and accurately portrays the human Christ.
