yes. They end up getting their on attorney to represent them also. What's in their best interest. Some parents don't like what they hear.

Yes they can evaluate the child, but more importantly, the parents need to be evaluated also...that kind of behavior around a child is unacceptable.
Just because a Divorce is taking place, gives neither parent any right to bash the other, think of the child.
Seek therapy even if you are not the one that is doing the harm, a therapists will help you watch for signs in the child, keep you Sane at the same time.

I do not think your 5 year old needs to be evaluated. If you're looking for some diagnosis to use as your weapon against the already emotionally abusive parent, save the kid the unnecessary drama of a psych eval.
Your baby might need some therapy, but he/she probably just needs to be consistently reassured that you do love them, and that nothing bad will happen when they talk to you. But if this child is not being allowed to see you or talk to you, then you have to go to court to let them know the other parent is violating your parental rights to see the child and have visitation or joint custody assuming you do not have any legal complications or other limitations which would prohibit that.
Otherwise the poor child will definitely need therapy after years of listening to that nonsense. I would recommend trying to get family therapy court ordered so that the other parent is forced to attend and you all can address his/her behavior with your child. You have at least 13 more years to deal with them, you better consider fixing this problem now.

Yes but determining and then convicting a parent for emotional abuse is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. A better way is to get the kid into counseling and get a court appointed rep. for the kid because neither should be influenced by the parents.

WoW, that is very corrupt! Well, the easy solution to that is to say nothing but good things about the other person, so that your child will see that! No matter how much of an *** they are, just dont let them see that it is bothering you. Be the stronger person, be the better person!!(which you obviously are) I think that someone to talk to is a great idea, and you and your child could really benefit from it!!
God bless you!!

this is not a matter for the child but for the parents to work out. The parents need to be adult enough to cooperate on the raising of the child. If that can't be done, you need to get evaluated so that you don't expose yourself and your child to losers like your ex- in the future. You created this problem by getting involved with a knucklehead. You need to find out what it is that brought you to a knucklehead so that you don't do it again.

Yes, the experts can test a child even younger than that. The experts have a way of cutting through the BS and getting to the truth.

Yes. As adults' emotional states can be evaluated, children can also, usually by Childrens' Mental Health Services.
