You are in the wrong this time...sorry. No matter how big of a deal something is to you....it's never okay to have fun at the price of someone else's being 'put out' about a prior commitment. First of all, the person was cooking for you. You called and 'told' them WHEN to cook so that you could take part in the meal someone else was kind enough to provide AND prepare for you. THEN, you got 'a better offer' and 'dissed' them. Pure and simple. You should not have cancelled...it was rude. I don't think anyone is 'jealous' of your relationship with your boyfriend. They're probably just resentful of how self-absorbed you've become and at their cost.

Why are you telling the "cook" in the house, which is your GF's mom, when to cook? Seems to me it is a little messed up. Besides, once you make firm plans it is RUDE to cancel out because you got a better offer. People go out of their way to please you, and you blew them off to impress your BF;s family? They would not be so impressed if they knew you dumped someone to accept their invite. Apologize to Loz and MUM. Pray BF and family do not get wind of your faux pas.

Repeat after me: "I can't even tell you how important you are in my life. I don't want you to ever be concerned that my relationship with (insert bf name) is more important to me than you are. I know you understand and you only want me to be happy... but change is scary, isn't it? I do get worried sometimes... but I know that you and I are SO close that we'll weather these relationships as they come and go for each of us and we'll be there for each other at the end of the day, right? There's just no substitute for a best girlfriend... no matter what!"

If all the problems of the world could be solved this easy. Just explain that tea with your boyfriend was important and you are sorry for the hassle. A small heartfelt gift and card will do the trick

The best thing you can do is to talk to loz mum and explain the situation clearly and let her know exactly how you feel. I'm certain she doesn't hate you, she may feel upset because she doesn't understand how you feel. Reassure her and let her know how much she means to you. The best thing to solve any problem is communication - honest, so TALK!

You have the same problem I do, I worry about what others think to much. I also suffer from depression a great deal ! You have to try & let it go. Deal with it easy & take your time. She will not suffer that much that you will lose her friendship....

so you dumped her and probably embarassed her in front of her mum who had already started cooking for you. you made an arrangement and then broke it for what you considered to be a better offer. not surprised you suffer from depression i would too lol. you need to spread yourself more evenly gal and stick to arrangements made and stop taking her for granted.
