We were told at school that the word "education" comes from the Latin verb "educo" and that it means "to lead out". The idea was that the knowledge is already there in our minds, and that the educational process ( schooling, studying, reading, travelling etc.,) leads out, or draws out, the knowledge.....
like from our subconscious to our conscious mind.
