I have read over and over on yahoo, non believers bashing Christians.
I am a Christian, and when answering a question I will give my opinion based on my knowlege and/or beliefs -Just as I assume everyone else does. Isn't that how we arrive at our answers?

I've read that Christains are hypocrites. I gather people arrive at this because we are not perfect. I think that is where the problem lies. We as Christians, DO NOT say that we are perfect, in fact we confess the complete opposite, so I don't quite understand the meaning behind the Holyer then thou statements. If an Alcohiloc doesn't admit he's an alcoholic does this mean he's not? No, but if he admits it then he will be more apt to get help.
Sin is sin regardless to who admits to it - As a Christian I know that I am a sinner
So even though being a Christian doesn't mean we do not sin, it does however mean that we are more apt to deal with those sins and work on cleansing them from our lives.

CHRISTIANS GET A BAD RAP BECAUSE PEOPLE BUCK AGAINST THE TRUTH. JESUS CHRIST GOT A BAD RAP BECAUSE HE DIDN'T FIT THE DESCRIPTION OF A KING OR THE MESSIAH WHEN HE WAS HERE ON EARTH. NOW HE SITS AT THE RIGHT HAND OF THE FATHER. THE HAND OF FAVOR. SOME PEOPLE CAN BE SO LOST AND SO DEEP IN A PIT AND STILL NOT WANT TO SURRENDER TO OR ADAPT A NEW WAY OF LIVING OR THINKING THAT WILL GET THEM OUT OF A HOLE OR A PIT. THEY ARE QUITE SELF-SUFFICIENT AND STILL WANT TO DO IT THEIR WAY AND GET THEIR SAME OLD RESULTS. YOU DON'T HAVE TO DEFEND CHRISTIANITY. CHRISTIANITY DEFENDS ITSELF. JUST BECAUSE THESE PEOPLE ARE GIVING US A CHRISTIANS A BAD RAP LETS ME KNOW THAT CONSCIOUSLY OR UNCONSCIOUSLY A SEED HAS BEEN PLANTED. IT MAY TAKE YEARS, MONTHS OR DAYS BEFORE THEY REALIZE THAT CHRISTIANITY IS THE WAY. THAT IS GOD'S BUSINESS NOT MINE. YOU JUST KEEP LIVING A GODLY LIFESTYLE AND EXHIBIT GODLY BEHAVIOR BY NOT GETTING EASILY DISTRACTED BY OTHERS' BEHAVIOR. SOMETIMES THE ONLY "GOD" THAT THE WORLD CAN SEE IS THE GOD IN US AS CHRISTIANS. IT HAS BEEN MY EXPERIENCE THAT SOME PEOPLE ARE NOT WILLING TO ACCEPT THE DISCIPLINE THAT COMES ALONG WITH BEING A CHRISTIAN.

I KNOW THAT AS A BELIEVER THAT GOD IS THE KING OF GLORY AND ONE DAY EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW AND EVERY TONGUE SHALL CONFESS THAT JESUS IS THE SON OF GOD. THE ONLY WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE. DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT. THE BIBLE TELLS US IN MATTHEW NOT TO WORRY ABOUT ANYTHING. PRAY WITHOUT CEASING FOR ALL OF THE UNBELIEVERS WHO ALLOW THE ENEMY SATAN TO OPERATE IN THEIR LIVES AND WATCH GOD DO AN AWESOME TURNAROUND IN THEIR LIVES.

Hmmm, I think I see the problem -

You assume that because you are Christian you are better at dealing with things than the non-Christians. See here:

"it does however mean that we are more apt to deal with those sins and work on cleansing them from our lives."

Oh really? Because you 'confess'. Tell me - how is that better than making it right to the person in question? (because there is no big father figure out there to forgive you if you don't make it right now)

Here is some advice - realise that Christians are human just like the rest of us. Your religious choice does not change all that much. I'm willing to admit the Christians are no worse, and the first bit of your passage was really a step in the right direction, but then adding that you deal with things better was really NOT a good thing to say.

Until next time.

There are a number of approaches to this question,
Are christians being bashed? Yes, but the reasons are
generally more involved with politics than religious prejudice

. Is it fair to lump all christians together?
No, because they are arranged in extensions of community, which is the only
truely usefull value of religion; to create community. You wouldn't see Martin Luther King with Ralph Reed in the same room. Would you say one is a less valid christian example than the other?

Some of the backlash does have to do with the message of disguised intolerance
christianity carries; In order to be "saved" you have to convert.
Judaism , in contrast, allows that there will be people
who are not jews but may live under the same general moral code.

Should the bible be the basis of our society?
The quakers worked to stop human slavery while other denominations used scripture to support it. So as a social compact governing society, the bible is not usefull in a democratic setting.
.
Christianity as a collective has a very confused idea of who God is and simply creates additional layers to hemorage the problem.

Christianity is the bloodiest religion on the planet. Perhaps not currently, but historically. Christian theology of any sort is internally inconsistent, and inherently anti-science. Christians tend to believe that morality must be based in divine prescription, indicating they have no moral compass of their own. Christians think that their book defines everyones reality, and cannot fathom their own arrogance and hypocricy. It's not a matter of not being perfect. It's a mater of wearing self chosen ignorance as a badge of honor under the guise of "faith".

It's because Christianity is a death cult. You worship a Hanged God. Many Christians look forward to the End of the World, when your God will destroy all life on Earth and torture, for Eternity, most of the people on the planet. You have a One True Faith that makes all other False and Paths to Damnation. If that's not an evil death cult, what is? Please, find a real religion to become a part of.

The reason that non-Christians do not like Christians is because they think Christians pick the parts of the Bible they like to follow and ignore those parts that they don't like. Also, since some parts of the Bible contradict themselves, this is almost a no-win situation. Also, one can use the Bible, in part, to justify any deed or action. If you are just following your own conscience and backing it up with the Bible, why should you celebrate any religion at all?

Because Satan can't stand Christians. He is the prince and power of the air. God has given him this authority. You will notice that almost all television or radio programs that go out over the "air" are always negative to Christians. You will also notice that these same programs are never negative about all the "ism" types of religion. This is because Satan is satisfied with what they are doing. If he were to fight against these he would be fighting against himself.

The problem lies with Christians allowing them to make rules for us.
They who are not Christians making the rules for us.
I say as I have said to those who have tried to put that perfect stuff on me, who are you to make the rules for me?
I stand because God makes me stand, not you.
No rules, just free.
Are you going to sin?
No! Who are you to say what sin is for me?
Make the rules for yourself.
Sin is not imputed where there is no law.
Rom 5:13 for until the Law sin was in the world; but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
No law?
Yes.
Only for those who believe it for themselves.
Rom 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.
Give me that righteousness, you can keep the law.

OLAY!

Christians ARE hypocrites

Ever eat meat on a friday? You're going to hell
Ever had sex while not married, or for pleasure?

The problem with you christians, is, you take your religion ONLY for the parts that you find convenient. Either you follow the tenets of your religion, or you don't. No 50/50.

Just because jesus saved you, and you accepted him as your personal savior doesn't mean you (and your kind) aren't pretentious self important *******.

Because they DESERVE a bad rap. They offend me. I am offended by stupidity, willful ignorance and self delusion... which pretty much sums up the Abrahamic death cults of desert monotheism (Judaism, Christianity, Islam). It offends me to know that three-quarters of the population of the USA are infected with some sort of insidious mental virus that leads them to the insane certainty that the myths, superstitions, fairy tales and fantastical delusions of a bunch of ignorant Bronze Age fishermen and wandering goat herders represent some kind of cosmic 'TRUTH' about fundamental aspects of existence and reality. It offends me that so many people dwell in a delusional reality consisting of an imaginary magical universe which contains a 6,000 year-old earth and heaven, a solid 'firmament' structure (the sky) separating the earth from heaven (terrarium earth), talking snakes (with legs) and donkeys, a shepherd staff that turns into an asp, demons chased out of people and into pigs, friendly spirits, evil spirits, walking on water, multiplying loaves and fishes, food falling from the sky, conception by a ghost, people raised from the dead, the sun stopping in its tracks, parting seas, people being bodily sucked up into heaven (which, by the way, lies on the 'other side' of the sky), world-wide flood that drowned the earth to a depth of 40 feet above the tallest mountain, creating people from a dust bunny and a rib, a magical tree of knowledge, god speaking from a burning bush... and ritual cannibalism, by eating god in the form of a cracker.

In a sane world, anybody running around spouting ANY of that crap, would be locked up in the State Farm for the Funny. Apparently, though, mass insanity seems to convey some sort of free pass for the loony.

It offends me that in our society, such irrational, deluded people as these are permitted to vote, hold public office, procreate, and shape the minds trusting, vulnerable children.

You dare to suggest that people who DON'T believe all of that ludicrous crap need help?

Get a grip.
