Because there are so many people that can be fooled by it, and will give them a lot of money thinking they are actually giving it to God. God is big business for a lot of dishonest people. Also, when people find out they turn away from God and not just the human idoits who tricked them. I try not to let it upset me anymore, I know that God will deal with them and they will have to account for all of their evil deeds, and ALL of the people they lead astray. Remember - the devil takes a little bit of truth and mixes it with a whole buncha lies to trick people into thinking they are doing right when they are really doing wrong. Infact, the greatest trick the devil has ever pulled off is making people beleive he doesn't even exist!

Here in America we're used to seeing "selling" of all sorts of things, and we have no qualms about them asking us to buy it for $19.99.
But when a preacher, who teaches and preaches, asks those that are blessed by the message, to send something in, -as lead by God, then non-blessed people have a problem with this?? I think it's more that they hate the message, than they hate the money aspect.
Giving folks the opportunity to "give" is not a crime, nor an impropriety. Only when the money is used inappropriately, is that bad. In fact CEO's in American companies get, and keep millions, is it that far off that a busy executive of a TV ministry gets a million dollar salary??
I don't think so.
Besides, the ministry business has a list of all kinds of things they'd like to do if they had another 10 million. Which includes feeding the hungry and distributing Bibles. Cosidering that telemarketers that call you to give to "March-of-Dimes" keep 65% of the money you send, - then Christian charities don't seem all that bad.

Because He is the only answer. Actually that ministry gave others a bad name. Kind of like one apple in a bunch makes the whole thing look bad when it isn't the case. There are very good ministries out there that are nonprofit. I really hope you are not using that one example as a reason that you abandon God. You do have to find the right church to go to. The way you do that is to find one that uses the Bible verbatim. Not one that doesn't even look at the Bible when they speak, but actually reads it. Study the Bible and you will know when they aren't telling you the truth. A couple of good ones are Coral Ridge and In Touch.
If you don't like my answer then I really can't help you. God can and will help you, but you have to sincerely let Him.

I'm guessing you mean to acquire financial gain. Many people start a ministry on true believes, but the power of money can turn anyone to evil ways. I do believe that ministers and those who spend their lives in service to the church should be compensated (given a salary). If it's their "job", they should be paid. After all, the have given all their time in service of the Lord and have no time left for another "earthly" job.
Besides financial gain, some of us have become "better" through Christ - and I think that's a good way to "use" God (or for Him to use us). I am more loving and compassionate because of my belief in the Lord. I find the time to help others. I am a better person because of God.

I tend to believe that people like the Bakers started out trying to spread the Word of God, but then money became too much of a temptation. Even Solomon with all his Wisdom could not resist the glamor of the World.

Not all people like the bakers are of God.
Titus 1:16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
Not all Christians do that in this world, and those that do, place a negative stigma upon the real Christians that they do not deserve. But God knows who is who, and that is all that matters.

You shouldn't generalize, and then again who are you to judge, God didn't put you on this earth for that. He said not to judge others because you too will be judged.
He is the only judge and will give to each according to their works, you are not God, so stop doing his job and concentrate on yourself and your own actions, there is a lot of evil and tragic situations going on in the world that are more important, and not everyone is the way you may think.
I agree with the delicious, he is right

I think it's because they get side tracked and fall in love with money instead of God. Jesus was the only one who never made mistakes, you can't follow a human mistakes. Because everyone sins whether it's a big one or a small one. All you've got to do is pray for them so they will follow are Lord Jesus Christ. And to answer your other question "songtouch.com" has contemporary christian music samples to listen too and download... God Bless You Amen!

The Baker's weren't using money to better themselves. They were greedy or selfish, whatever way a person would like to see it. Bilking people out of millions of dollars by deceit is crimminal.
