Do you know of any car dealerships in Southern California that will buy a used car from you, even if you arent looking to buy a new car? I heard something like this a couple of months ago but forgot who the dealer was. Any suggestions would be great!

CarMax buys cars whether you buy from them or not. They do not take "trade-ins" in the usual sense of the process. They keep the process of buying the used car and your purchase of a new car separate.

Here is the link that details their process.

Here is a list of locations in CA.

CarMax Auto Superstores

- Buena Park
- San Gabriel Valley/Duarte
- LAX
- Irvine
- Burbank - Opening Soon
- Ontario
- Sacramento/Roseville

Good luck!

Any dealership will buy your car. But Carmax has a designated staff that does it on a full time basis.

Beware though.... Carmax will only offer you the loan value, which is significantly less than the trade-in value you find at kbb.com. I had a car appraised there and they offered only $1000 even thought trade-in value was $2000. After it was totalled in an accident got $3000 in the settlement.

most of the second hand dealerships that are connected to the new dealerships will buy anything, of the same maker, under 4 years old.

There are a few, depends on what their current inventory is and whether they think they can sell the vehicle - they will offer you less than wholesale, so you'll take a real bath - better to sell it yourself at wholesale cost.
