Priests celebrate Mass every day, which takes about an hour.

They also spend an hour saying the divine office, which is a series of daily prayers designed to help them walk with God.

There is the usual paperwork in the church office, and the return phone calls. Figure another two hours for that.

Many priests have responsibilities for more than one parish, as well.

There are the sick and the dying that need attention, as well as the elderly. Two or three more hours a day, sometimes many more, and often in the middle of the night.

Priests also care for the dead, and for their families.

There is a funeral Mass just about every other day, in most Catholic parishes. This, along with the wake, and the actual burial service at the cemetery, can easily take four hours or more.

Many priests have elderly parents to care for, as well as other relatives.

Then, there's the banquets and necessary public appearances, the dedications, the demonstrations in front of local abortion mills, the civil rights demonstrations, and all the other similar types of things.

A priest typically spends 2 to 4 hours per week hearing confessions, and another 4 to 8 hours per week counseling parishioners who may be having problems of various kinds.

Then, there's weddings, baptisms, and special parish events.

Catholics are required to complete a course of study before marriage, which is usually conducted by a priest, or with a priest in attendance.

The local bishop may also require some of the priest's time and talents, for wider ranging church projects.

Priests also maintain a process of continuous study and faith development, either officially, through various Catholic seminaries and universities, or through a self-directed courses of study.

Then, there's the traditional Sunday Mass and homily, which can only be conducted by an ordained priest, which, along with all the related Sunday activities, requires about half a day.

I may have missed something, but you can see that being a priest is a 24/7 ... 365 day a year job, with an occassional day off, here and there, when possible.

Well he gets do dress up every morning and do a floor show, then he gets to play with children, then he gets to have a few brandys and eat and drive around in a nice car bought for him and he does not have to work for a wage like the rest of us because church goers support him even if he does do naughty things with little children - I know because I was fiddled with!

What you are able to assume relies upon fantastically on what training you finally end up taking (ie. what you significant in). I had friends in college that appeared to in no way have homework, yet who complained that training weren't undemanding for them besides. It additionally relies upon on what style of grades you assume from your self. in case you many times get good grades, and assume to maintain doing so, you're able to plot to paintings no longer undemanding. Very no longer undemanding. ultimately, your workload relies upon on who your instructor is. For a given direction, one instructor will assign you to "examine" and yet another will supply distinctive quizzes and prepare assignments, graded on a curve. there is not any set answer to any of your questions. besides the indisputable fact that, because you're merely commencing out, you would be taking familiar practise training (all and sundry takes the comparable ones, extraordinarily lots). you've a number of training each and every week for each subject count you're taking. there will be greater than a number of assignments each and every week. specifically cases they are undemanding, specifically cases no longer. i've got spent many an "all-nighter" doing homework, fantastically as issues progressed. you will do homework on weekends and trip journeys and definite, tests will many times be no longer undemanding. I many times tried to take approximately 15 instruments in step with semester, yet back, it could variety, looking on how no longer undemanding you like to or can paintings. My perfect suggestion is to paintings no longer undemanding and don't rush to %. a significant. Take a twelve months or maybe 2 to return to a decision, yet while that element comes, come to a decision! otherwise, you will merely waste a great style of money and time. The journey would be exciting and exciting, yet maximum folk visit at last get a job, so concentration as much as you are able to and don't overlook to relish a number of the perfect years of your existence while you're there! good success!
