I used to be a Baptist until someone actually told me the real truth about the church, since Catholics were the first true church and all. I'm just not sure if other religions that BROKE off of the catholic church and decided to do their own damn thing are taught to disrespect Catholics? Just throwing that out there, I never see a Catholics disrespect other church's...

Jesus was bashed and otherwise abused, because people didn't understand Him, and didn't care to take the time to learn about Him. Same things with Catholicism.

I always thought Jewish and Catholic religion were the main two, and everything else stem off of that.

Baptist and Catholics are technically under one catagory of Christianity, although the practices are slightly different.

I grew up baptist and to believe not to marry someone of another religion or date someone of other religion especially catholic due to the Mary statue thing. I quit going to church due to the bashing reasons as well as few other bad church reasons.

It is mostly what the church wants people to believe. Not every church is gonna bash another religion, but it does seem to be a "power issue" with whoever is running it.... like "don't do this and don't do that".... and give verses that kinda go with what they are saying but not really.

Considering the nature of the Reformation, and the fact that many of Luther's complaints weren't wrong, it's easy to see why there is this underlying anti-Catholicism within Protestant ranks.

This being five centuries later, I think a lot of the anti-Catholicism today stems from bad teaching. I don't mean that anti-Catholic bias is official teaching in some Christian denominations. it's just that I think mislead pastors are misleading their parishioners with bad theology is all. For anyone wondering why the Catholic Church has a heirarchy of Clergymen, this is why. It assures, to the best of it's ability, that all Catholic parishes are teaching a common Doctrine.

When you think about it, it's inexplicable; if God is love, how do they justify hatred of Catholics in the name of God? I'm sure the percentage of these misguided Protestants is relatively small. It's just that they are "loud".

Add to that, the near-total anonimity that the Internet provides, people tend to say things they would never even think of saying in public. I'm sure that has a lot to do with it too.

I guess this is what happens when a denomination does not possess the Fullness of the Truth.

In my opinion, I think this rabid anti-Catholicism has to do with the fact the Catholic Church is of God. Ever since the Church came into being, there's never been an age in which the Church was not in the shadows of an apparent threat. Cyber-anti-Catholicism is yet another form for our age.

Because they resent the fact that the Catholic Church contains the fullness Of Christ's Holy Truth.

Those who broke away from the Catholic church to do their own thing, had no authority from God to do so.

The original heretics understood this, so they invented a whole bunch of things that they said Catholics did wrong, and their spiritual successors keep emphasizing them to this day.

They weren't true then, and they aren't true now, but it is an effective tactic, as people are much more likely to be strongly against something, than for it ... especially something they don't fully understand.

It's nice that God's grace has brought you into the fullness of his truth. May God continue to bless you, through his one, true church.

Man is a false god. Therefore if one is the 'judgment' point, one may criticize anything/person that does not agree with self.
Via the '2 or more witnesses' principle, combined with 2 Tim. 3:16-17, one may realize that the old testament (which was done away when Christ died on the cross) was the law of Moses; not Genesis-Malachi. So it is easy, religiously speaking, for someone to criticize another person in this country presently.

here's some strange history for you-- Martin Luther wrote that the pope was the anti-Christ and the catholic Jesuits created the idea of Rapture to counteract Luther's belief within the Catholic Church, now it is Christian fundamentalists who believe in Rapture not Catholics

there is a whole heckka interdenominational bashing.

once you get out there you will realize it more. I dont believe any one denomination is the best , I look at the heart and actions of the person proclaiming to be christian.

there are some things a true christian and a raised christian will not do, and a loose person will.

now , as for dealing with this, I believe its best if you take the time out to learn and appreciate your denomination. Remember we dont worship religion, we practice in faith and love of Jesus Christ. as long at your heart is with christ, let the haters hate!

Maybe you just never noticed.

It is a tribute to the power of Satan that he can divide, and cause arguments among, those who oppose him the strongest.
We ought to do our best to avoid dissension.

It is the same thing as going out of a group and joining another. You have to have a reason why you choose to transfer. Sometimes it is best to look for what is not good in that first group to prove that your choice is right.
