My son is 10 and 3/4 years old he always wants to stay home by his self i have not let him yet i trust him to be home by his self but i dint know what age he would have to be

this has been covered in questions lately

there is no legal age, as long as your child knows how to handle emergencies cps can do nothing if your child is left home.

there is no actual law or legal age

I just asked a friend who works for CPS in Michigan this question the other night. She said there wasn't a "legal" age, it depended on maturity and such, if they could handle an emergency but of course you can't leave like a 6 year old alone....

I was told by a representative from Child Protective Services that a child can stay home by himself/herself at 12 years old.

Sorry, IF you leave a child 13 or younger alone in Michigan they can take that child and put YOU in jail...that IS the law!

Not sure about Michigan, but I do believe it is 12 in most states. .
