I think its a god thing to educate kids about sex. Kids are having sex younger and younger these days thats it scarry. The sooner the better because they hear it anywhere so its better to hear the facts then some of the stuff on the streets. Also, some parents dont like to talk to their kids about sex. I had friends whose parents gave them a book to read rather then talk to them. It was crazy because it was difficult to understand so they were asking other people questions just to get the info straight. And to educate in the schools means everyone is getting the same information. There are still people out there having unportected sex even after finding out all this stuff about STD's and AIDS. I honestly dont think schools do enough to educate kids. I didnt get the proper education until high school when we had guest speakers with AIDS and other STD's come and talk to us.

I believe it is, but to a point. As someone who works for a school, I would like to say that the school is only allowed to do so much concerning this topic. Unfortunately, a lot of sex-ed programs teach the children the very basic what and how of it, and don't do the best job of telling them exactly what the consequences could be. While they become aware of the STD's out there, and pregnancy, amongst other things, they do not learn what is important for them to know about STD's until high school. Even then, a child needs to learn about sexual education from parents or guardians, for it to be best explained to them properly.
A lot of parents and guardians do have trouble approaching the topic, which is normal, but it is more important for things to be said than unsaid concerning this. A very good website that I would recommend to any parent or guardian, or even children learning about sex-ed is www.candiesfoundation.org. They offer Q&A sections, as well as ideas on how to approach talking about the subject. Check it out!

It is better to education them then they go out and try to discover what it is the wrong way. Yes! lets learn about STD by getting them and then spreading them around! NOT! Look at that one movie "SAVED" with that one singer in it (forgot her name). But chick got pregnant the first time she had sex and the only reason she had sex was because she thought it would save her boyfriend from becoming gay! Good movie by the way!

good to a certain extent. at least the info of using condoms or morning after pills can help them. the majority of them are going to do it anyways so might as well give them the tools and info necessary to make it safe sex rather than trying to curb them from having sex at all. some kids today are getting the mesage about abstinence but most of them are still going at it unprotected and exposing themselves to all the risks involved.

I think it is essential that schools provide some answers to students that their parents may not be able to or comfortable to provide. That way teenagers are informed about things like STD's and proper use of birth control.

It's a good thing... takes away a little curiosity that otherwise prompts kids to get sexual and discover for themselves great things like unwanted pregnancy, STD's, etc. before it's the right time.

Yes it is very essential since it helps enlighten the minds of both sexes so that all teens should learn how to protect themselves ,and how to deal with the issue of freedom .

It's good to educate the kids so that they know how to protect themselves and not be shocked when they get an STD.

Absolutely!
However, I don't think that this should mean that parents then abdicate their responsibility. They too should talk to their children about it.
