I agree with Teejay, that a TDI should last 300,000 miles. I have one, and diesel engines run cooler than gas powered engines; therefore, they will last longer. They also don't need oil changes as frequently. As long as you keep up on the maintance, they should last a long time. I love my Jetta TDI!

Also, the standard model is supposed to be better than the automatic.

I have a 2002 Jetta VR6, 6 speed with 105K miles. The only thing I have done was a tune-ups and oil changes.

I also have a 2003 Jetta 1.8T, 5 speed with 45K miles and the only thing was a water temperature sensor which turned on the check engine light. Repair was done at the dealership and cost about 130 clams. It was a simple fix.

Your case is somewhat diverse from others in that the cop actually witnessed a criminal offense being committed interior the homestead. as a effect is could be extra like warm pursuit. in maximum situations, a cop won't be able to enter a house with out consent or a warrant, regardless of in all risk reason, different than in very unusual situations which contain warm pursuit, yet the place the cop is lawfully status on the door and witnesses a criminal offense occurring, and the crime involves the welfare of toddlers, i think of maximum courts might enable it.

TDI's definitely the Jetta to buy. My '03 wagon (5-speed) goes like stink . . . no pun intended because it really doesn't stink . . . (the salesman told me it'll outrun a VR6 at stoplights and I believe him!), has every luxury option and averages 48 mpg. So far I have 116,000 completely trouble free miles on it.
