Spend lots of time in the sun and use lemon juice or a product like SUN IN.
It'll take a while but it works.

Sorry to tell you but no. It is impossible to lighten your hair without bleaching it. For example...you have a black shirt you want to turn white, does ordinary laundry soap work??? No, you must bleach it first. It might go brown though, anyways, no you must bleach your hair.
