Puss is the informal word for a cat.
Pus is viscous, yellowish-white fluid formed in infected tissue, consisting of white blood cells, cellular debris, and necrotic (dead) tissue.
Pus located in an enclosed tissue space is known as an abscess. This is often found in the mouth, especially in and around the roots of teeth.
A collection of pus within or beneath the epidermis (skin) is known as a pustule (or commonly a pimple).
Medical term for pus is pus.
