Drink orange juice or take Vitamin C suppliments. Vitamin C boosts your immune system and lessens your chances of getting sick and quickens "healing" time. Around cold and flu season, I drink lots of OJ to keep from getting sick and it works.

Breathing steam is great for colds. Boil some water, then put a towel over your head and breathe in the steam for 5 minutes. Besides getting a great facial, it helps clear out the nose. A lot of studies show that the common colds are caused by viruses in the nose, and the steam helps to at least keep symptoms at bay.

It will go away in 10 days or so. No matter what you do you can't speed that up. But you can make yourself feel better in the meantime by:
* Resting in bed
* Drinking plenty of fluids
* Gargling with warm salt water or using throat sprays or lozenges for a scratchy or sore throat
* Using petroleum jelly for a raw nose
* Taking aspirin or acetaminophen, Tylenol, for example, for headache or fever (IF you are over 18---if not, don't use aspirin)

Ride it out. It's not going to go away faster. But DON'T eat dairy or chocolate. That will just make you more congested. Do gargle with salt water a lot- hot as you can stand it, take Vitamin C for general rebuilding of your health, and if you have green or yellow sputum or mucus, you DO have a secondary infection. In that case, don't wait, get anti-biotics pronto.

While I tend to not like recommending cold/flu remedies two really good ones are Tylenol Cold and Flu and Cold FX. To prevent it in future, take lots of Vitamin C & E, drink lots of water and wash your hands routinely.
