Get a subwoofer cable (the same as a pair of interconnects or, as some people still call them, "RCA patch cords" or "phono plugs", except it will come in a package of one) that is long enough to be able to place the subwoofer where you want it. Connect it to the powered subwoofer's input and the receiver/preamp's preamp output (if you need to share the preout with an amplifier, get a RCA splitter adapter) -and voila!

Most powered subwoofers have speaker inputs on them as well as an LFE input. You just connect the speaker outputs of your amplifier to the inputs on the subwoofer. Then you connect your speakers to the subwoofer. The subwoofer will act as a crossover and send the deired frequncies to your speakers and keep the low frequencies for itself.

Most good subwoofers will allow you to run your front speaker wires through it. If your sub is like this then yes, otherwise it would take a little more doing.

Yes if there is no output jack for your sub, then you could hook up your sub through the speaker connection and then hook up your speakers through the output of your sub.

Just take a pair of RCA jacks and hook them up to a tape output on the old amp and if its a good sub it will only play the low pass. Enjoy!!!
