you can do wonders with rollers, but it often takes some preperation and practice, so try it beforehand. Also try doing a half pony, or instead of a band, use a clip instead.
Good luck!

You should start off with putting your hair in a pony tail. Then wrap the hair around the hair tie until you can't do it any longer. Tuck the end of your hair inside the hair tie. Secure with booby pins.

OR

Put a headband on that has a cute pattern or solid colored- its a quick and easy way to look trendy. Or even do a regular pony tail and tie a piece of ribbon around the base. You buy ribbons cheaply at a craft store.

I have hair like yours too. I usually yank it into a ponytail, and twirl it into a bun. When you let it down at lunch, it will have soft, gorgeous waves. Or you can try a cute updo by pinning up a loose braid.

I put mine up frequently. I have waist length hair. I often braid it. Sometimes I put it in a ponytail or a half pony tail. Occasionally I put it in a "messy bun". (I first put it in a secured pony tail so that the sides don't fall out!) There are a ton of options.

You can pin some of it off to a side maybe or clip it up in an up-do.
