Of course it is. It's also a good place to get them. How so? When you ask a question, you're going to get good answers and bad ones and everything in between. You need to separate the wheat from the chaff. After all, pooled ignorance is still ignorance. Also, real truth is never determined by popular opinion. That said, however, you may get a good answer from someone who really knows what he or she is talking about.

In large part it depends on the quality of the question, the specificity of the question, and the number of people who happen to see it. For instance, it's hopeless to ask for proof that God does or does not exist, because no one knows, and all you will EVER get is opinion. If you ask what year the King James Version of the Bible was printed in English, someone is sure to look it up and give you the correct answer, probably with a link to their source.
Political and Religious questions tend to generate more heat than light, but there are many other categories where reasonable questions and answers are the norm, rather than the exception.

I'd say it's about a 50-50 mix of people who genuinely want to help others and those folks who either don't have enough knowledge to give a good answer or who are deliberately being idiots.
I wouldn't necessarily act on anyone's advice without doing some further research to confirm their facts.

No, but it's a good place to get bad answers.
There are probably not too many people on yahoo answers who knows what he/she is talking about. Teenage brains are not even fully developed so forget about most answers coming from teenagers unless you're interested in what they are watching on tv, the web, or the movies.
If you ask a question, you might want to ask people who answer to give qualifications to answer.

There are some quality answers out there, you just have to root through a lot of garbage to find them. Plus, even the good answers are often based on opinion, rather than fact.

It depends what you're asking. I've had great answers to factual questions. But theoretical questions are more complex. Sometimes people don't seem to understand the question. Always take any answer with a pinch of salt! (mine included)

If the questions are objective someone will provide the answer, but there will be incorrect answers as well.
Subjective questions cannot be "answered" per se, but you will get a lot of opinions to consider.

It depends on what you're asking about. If you want short to the point answers, it is good for that, but generally, when I want detailed answers, I don't really get them.

depends on the question...like a personal question could help because people who have over come those issues can help you, but then other things its better to look it up on the internet through a search, hope this helps

It depends on the question. If you ask a silly question, you'll get silly answers. If you ask a serious question, you can often get some very helpful information.
