a classic pant suit would always be in good taste, chocolate brown, navy, khaki, black. (It really is okay to wear black to weddings)

It has nothing at all to do with the wedding party's colors.
Guests should not wear a white dress, a black dress, or a red dress. Everything else is pretty much fine. A fancy pantsuit or skirt outfit is usually fine too.
If it is at night and the invitation says black tie, then you must wear a long gown.

You can wear any type of nice apparel that is a little dressy as long as you are not overdressed. The chances that you would pick the same color as the wedding party are very small and you still would not be singled out as the attire would be different. The only people in the wedding that need worry about the color are the mothers of the bride and groom. If you are really worried call someone who is close to the bride and ask what her colors will be so you can gift wrap your present to coordinate.

Just don't try and outdo the bride and all will be well. I've always been told never to wear white (bride) or black (now more acceptable) Anything else in good taste is acceptable. I have been to wedding where I have worn each of the above. As long as you feel comfortable and you're not looking like a "working girl" You'll be OK

I think dress, skirt, or pantsuit is fine. As far as color I think it's okay to wear black. I think the only color to stay away from is white. Only the bride should be wearing white unless she wants her flower girl to also wear white. Other than that any other color is fine. Don't wear prints! Just a nice simple, yet still formal "outfit" is fine.
Good Luck!

A dress or skirt in a neutral color/pattern (avoid white as thats the color the bride will likely wear)... Navy blue, beige, toupe or black are always appropriate... Also avoid overly slinky cuts.. Something appropriate for dining in an upperscale resturant would be appropriate for a wedding reception..

Wear a dress with a few colors in it or a pattern. That way you won't clash or match the wedding party.

As long as you are not in white/cream it's all good. You just don't want to look like the bride.
I don't think most people know the colors of the weddings they go to unless they are involved in the wedding somehow

The colors don't matter, wear what you look good in. Wear a dress, or a really "dressy" skirt and top (not too much skin).

wear a nice Black skirt knee length or longer, a dressy blouse that can , can be accessorized with a jacket or shawl throw on a couple of pieces of gold jewelry and shoes that are dressy, but take along a pair of flats if theres to be a reception afterward with dancing as your feet will get to hurting in the heels. Have a nice time!

It is OK if you are in a similar color to the bridal party. Call if you can find out what they're wearing, just be sure not to wear white and you will be fine.
