Contrary to popular belief, potato's are very good for dieting. Just eat it baked and don't put fattening toppings on them like butter, cheese, sour cream, bacon bits. Potatos have alot of nutrition, especially Sweet Potato's.
Potatos have fiber, vitamins, minerals and taste good to you. They have relatively few calories and provide you with a consistent supply of energy.
You can't go wrong with products from nature.

If your are on an Atkins diet, yes potatoes are bad because of the carbohydrates. If you are eating sensible balanced meals, potatoes are ok. Its all about moderation. You can go to McDonalds when you are dieting as long as you don't go every day..... We eat too much as a society and have lost touch with what portions should really be.

I got off track there at the end, sorry.

Well, actually, NO.. they aren't.. but, the clue here is, MODERATION... if you fry them and salt them, and add catsup, you're going to wind up in the same boat you are already in.. the main thing is to set up a meal plan and stick to the portions, as well as whatever your nutritionist told you about what you can or can't eat..
Helped me lose 26 pounds in 2 months by doing that.
