Shane c ~
MMA is still in it's infancy stage, Boxing has weathered all the storms from public outcry to AMA. Boxing has a proven past with a somewhat bleak future. MMA is the "New kid on the block" right now it's like comparing apples to oranges they're somewhat the same but very different. The fighters in the MMA make nowhere the money a Champion boxer does and for way more risk. In my opinion, it may not happen tomorrow or next week but there will be a death in MMA broadcast just it has happened to Boxing, but the big difference is and will be Boxing weathered the storm every Senator out there will be calling for the abolishment of the sport and it will happen. I am a avid fan of MMA , I admire the athletes and their sacarfices and I respect the sport. I have my Black Belt in BJJ as well being involved with boxing for over thirty years so it's not like I'm against the sport but it's not ever going to surpass boxing. Thanks Shane for a very good question.

MMA (UFC) is already huge and it's not going anywhere anytime soon. Personally, I prefer it to boxing because theres just so much more going on and every event has more then one fight, so if you get a TKO early in a fight, you still have a couple fights to look foward to. MMA is just getting started...give it a year or two and boxing won't even compare- just look at how many people ordered the Liddell vs. Sobral fight like a week ago.

Its already burying boxing. On my fathers side of the family boxing goes back to my great grandfather who was a bareknuckle fighter. Its sad but boxing is on its way out and has no one to blame except its self and the times. Todays kids relate more to mma because its basically a legal street fight in a cage. There's no fixed fights in the UFC, theres no where to hide and fight defensively in the octagon. Its guanteed action everytime, so I can understand why its more popular. To prove how far boxing has fallen take a look at who is arguably the best heavyweight out there, James Toney who is a fat old middleweight.

it is already huge and it's only going to get bigger when it is allow outside of Nevada and California - I think it's very exciting, those guys literally put their lives on the line when they step into the octagon - I still love boxing, too - but MMA will be bigger because people love violence

I dont think so. They dont market it right. Also theres no stand out star fighters like boxing. I thought if they left it like it was when it originally came out it would have been, but they changed so much since then.

Possibly. MMA is pure. Less weight divisions and only one champ per division.
