iF THEY DO, LETS MAKE IT SIMPLER WITH LESS PAPERWORK AND RED TAPE FOR THE COPS.
The balance needs to be swung back to the victims side. Enough of pandering to the criminals human rights.
But no reforming or any of that malarky....

PACE is there to protect police and criminals (suspected) by laying out the way people should be treated.
It covers the rights of people arrested/interviewed/investgiated etc. and how they should be treated. No matter what you think of the police, it is a good thing - even if it can be complicated.
If you think back to those who were wrongfully convicted due to corrupt police officers "cooking the books/faking evidence" etc. then it MUST be a good thing.
I cannot see that it will be abandoned anymore than the Human Rights Act.

I can vouch for the fact that PACE was absolutely not popular with most Right wingers, as you call them. It was legislation which prevented the willy nilly use of stop and search and the old suss laws were finally eradicated.
Hardly what you would expect from those who lean more towards the right. However, the "left" have since made a mockery of any such public protection intended by PACE with the new terrorism related laws. Things come full circle - we have a way to go yet, but we are def in the middle of a steep curve just now.

Don't think they want to abandon PACE legislation, but reform it, and this is a natural process for most laws.
The question is do they make it simpler to enforce and use?
Not sure where you got the idea right wingers brought it in, PACE is very liberal in that it restricts the polices power and outlines exactly what the can and cannot do, unlike they Judges Rules legislation which preceded it.

PACE does protect innocent people from corrupt police proceedings but it also affords hardened criminals the opportunity of hiding behind their civil rights. Balancing it out there are more repeat offenders than corrupt cops so there needs to be some changes. Victims rights need to be given more priority.

PACE was introduced to protect people from dishonest law enforcers....this was due to a number of high profile miscarriages of justice....I am not saying that it is perfect, but until someone comes up with a better system, it should stay!

It's Bill Clintons fault remember. Everytime these idiots screw things up (all the time) instead of being man about it they switch blame over to clinton. Lets face it folks conservatism is dead. It's old and out dated and most of America is pissed. Whenever a conservative gets in office everything goes wrong.
