It probably has something to do with he gasses and other chemical byproducts produced by the digestive process. After all, your body secretes all sorts of things to break down the food, and not only that but traces of those plus the food waste, which by now is over at least a day old and therefore spoiled, is coming out of you. I'd say it should at the very least smell bad.

Feces contain indoles. These are present in excretion all the time. Believe it or not, indoles are used as the basis for perfume.
