You're doing what is best for you and more importantly, trying to be a good person. Some of the worst hypocrites are in the front pews of a church, so don't worry. If you want to read the Bible don't read it from start to finish but just read the parts that are most helpful and/or inspiring to you. Best wishes.

Absolutely not. You have every right to be there. I agree with you about getting good lesson from church. Keep on going and who know you may see the light.
I believe in a higher power and don't attend church. Who's better off you or me. That's not an easy question to ask. I think it about being a good person. You sound like a thoughtful and good person.

That is not wrong when it comes to your faith. Faith is about you being a good person. Do what makes you feel good even if you don't follow everything. That church raised you right because you are doing a good thing. Personally, I don't go to church, but I try to be the best I can be in any situation. It's all about what makes you feel good and making the most out of your life. Keep up the great work!

I don't understand your thinking, I am also thinking you are looking for an argument by posting on here, (maybe not but that's been my experience with atheists, very argumentative..) but here is my response...
1 Cor 2:14
1 Tim 6:3-4
Ps 14:1
If you are truly an atheist, then you don't fully understand what you are hearing at church. But I don't think there can be any harm by you attending church. I am sure that is exactly where God would want you to be on Sunday mornings. No man can judge you and you can judge no man. But GOD will judge us all. Anyone who tells you not to attend church is a fool, but the bible also teaches that our hearts can become hardened to the things of the Lord by rejecting them for too long. I think its very risky of you to be playing games with God, but that's my only concern about it. Plus remember, even Lucifer was once an angel who did good deeds and was a "good person". I would be curious if you believed in Satan.
I am just thankful that I don't have to rely on my own powers to get thru rough times and can lean on the knowledge of Gods love for me and my family.

i dont think it is stupid. maybe there are some beliefs there that you dont realize. and if not you are still intitled to sit and hear the stories and sermons. dont let anyone make you feel stupid about trying to be a good person or for going to church to sit and listen.

You are attending church for a reason
you may not know it now
But God needs a person like you
and in the end you will come to understand exactly
what I mean.

I think you could find just as many good stories with good lessons in a variety of books and never have to set foot in a church. you must think past the physical location and stories you enjoy, and think about what ideals the church supports. do they support racist policies, do they object to homosexuals, are they in support of our military toppling governments because we don't like the way they are run? in my opinion, if you attend their services, you are in some small way supporting their ideals.

Higher power.
I have heard this a lot.
Higher power, a power is something that is there. It has no mind it only has a nature.
Electricity is a power. It's nature is to balance the electrical charge to zero.
It has no mind it just does it.
I don't need a higher power I need someone who understands me. Jesus is not a higher power. He is a sentient being. He is God. He is who I need.

Doubting Thomas was chosen by Jesus as an Apostle even though he had lots of doubt. Judas was chosen by Jesus even though he knew beforehand that Judas would betray him.
Atheists and sinners are all welcome to attend church, but they do not belong to the Church unless they confess in their hearts that Jesus is their Lord and God.
