Connor, 6 months old, having trouble with diareha and had a spell of vomiting...sick 1 1/2 days. He doesn't eat and barely drinks. He doesn't come when called and you have to stand him up for him to follow you anywhere, not that I don't think he can, he doesn't want to. He is dehydrated and depressed. He tested negative for Parvo, but positive for hookworms. What is the proper treatment for this breed of dog?

Hookworm are treated easily with pyrantel pamoate, a simple wormer. It is not a breed specific thing. All breeds are treated the same. IF that doesn't help, see the vet and see what else can be causing the problem. It can still be negative for the parvo test and develop parvo.

Get him to the vet. He may die of dehydration if you don't take action. Hookworms cause severe blood loss so he may be severely anemic too.

In the mean time see if he will drink a little canned chicken broth, and give him some crushed pepto bismol tablets--read the directions and give the dose according to his weight.

get a lot of gator aid into him or pedialite you give it to children so they don't dehydrate good for diareha also get unflavored. use an eyedropper to get it down him and have to do it every few mins,24 hours a day tell he comes around if not to late. What breed is he.

emergency vet

now
hookworms kill a dog. apparently you havent had him to a vet because any vet would treat worms right there in his office. if your dog is that bad, get him to the vet now.. he is dying of worms and its your fault

needs medical attention---hookworms won't make him that sick. He may have gotten into something else---i would take him to the vet immediately
