Whenever someone asks for a translation from English into another language there is always a group of geniuses that uses those on-line translation tools and comes out with gobbledegook. And then there is the other group that purports to know the language and gives gramatically incorrect answers. Is it so compelling to get those points or do these people really think they are doing us a service? Do you guys really think that those translators work? I am not trying to be mean...I am just trying to understand! I really do want answers from these people; through understanding there is acceptance.

Samantha: the French translation doesn't make sense. Let me guess... You Googled it?

As you said, online translators don't work. they are ok if you already know the language and just want to check what a word means (although you'd do a better job with a dictionary)

As for those who are not native speakers and make mistakes, well, I think they are really trying to help.

As for people who are native speakers and make mistakes, well, I think they are trying to help.

But I agree, it must suck for the one who asked the question. I think the first group of people just want to get 2 points (then they should just give the link to the online translator). Or they just give you rude sentences, in case nobody corrects them... Yeah, I know, teenagers can have a strange sense of humour... I HOPE only teenagers give rude answers!

Lol. It's quite irritating sometimes because the asker can't really tell which are rubbish, since he/she is asking for translation. And that's very inconsiderate for the asker might believe the wrong things. Personally I only translate languages that i'm good at e.g. chinese. Get really fed up when I see someone translating a language that i'm good at wrongly :(

I agree with you. I hate online translators, they barely work for single words, sentences come out looking like junk. Ugh.

I guess people do it for the points. As much as I like getting points, I try to answer only questions that I can actually answer, or at least help.

Thanks for the 2 points anyway! ;-)

I think it makes them feel smart. I'm not sure. If I got one of those bogus translations back from a translator I'd be suspicious of the program!
