I am using LimeWire Pro, and when I double click to start a download, it opens up an internet page to artistdirect.com instead of starting the download. It does the same thing if I select a song and press the green download arrow button. What's going on?

I have encountered the same thing with LimeWire basic. When I look for new music especially, a bunch of songs are listed with more than 100 hosts, and none of them download. I believe this is called "spoofing". I just avoid anything with that many hosts. Sometimes there's so many of those coming in that I can hardly click on any of the real downloads because they keep moving in the list, so I sort the list in reverse order of "#".

I have that same problem to, but only with certain files on Limewire. Seems its a form of advertisement. Just click on one of the other files to download till you find one that doesnt do it. Other than that, I use Ares. Ares seems to be plain and simple, and gets the job done.

Easy! Only click on ***MP3*** files to download. Better yet, click on
'Tools->Filters->Keywords' then check all the boxes in the lower half of the box (unless you *do* want adult content, then leave that one box unchecked).

you got the one where you pay for it. if you get limewire basic, you get all the songs for free. its not illegal, but not legal. most people go with limewire basic.
