You need to become acquainted with the wonders of a Sitz Bath. If you go to a home care store that carries hospital quality products you'll probably be able to find this.

Basically though, the bath is a basin that is designed to fit onto a toilet. You put it into place, and in it you will put a 1/2 cup of bath salts, and water as hot as you can stand to place your butt in. Don't put in too much water, because it makes a mess if it overflows. Mix the bath salts until they melt. Then put your naked butt in the bath. Sit there for a minimum of 10 minutes, or until the water begins to noticeably cool. Pat dry with paper towelling. Believe me, it will feel SO much better when you have done this!

Clean the bath well with soap and water after each immersion. You will begin to hurt again once your infected area begins to really dry out. Take no more than about 4 of these Sitz baths a day.

Since you say you have an infection...did the doctor prescribe you antibiotics? If not, you can also try getting an antibiotic cream from the chemist.

Sitz baths were used commonly in order to sooth episiotomy cuts for new mothers when I was young.

Take the pills. When they run out, if it still hurts, go back to the same doctor.

Just don't sit down, don't even think about touching it, and go see a doctor!
