Does this verse support baptizing the dead?

1 Cor. 15:29, " otherwise, what do people mean by being baptized on behalf of the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why are people baptized on their behalf?"

Paul was not talking about just physical death here...He was talking about spiritual death. Notice in the verses following he says "I die daily". He was saying what good is it going to do someone to be baptized if spiritually they are dead (unsaved) Also, we are baptized once we have accepted Jesus as our Saviour as the first step of obedience to God.

So, in answer to your question no, it is not supporting baptizing the dead. Either physically dead or spiritually dead.

The point is, why get baptized if you do not believe in the resurrection??...The only purpose that would serve is to be baptized to become dead. It does not make sense.

We get baptized for life, by resurrection if necessary. John 5:28,29.

Praise Jah!! Hail earth's new King..Jesus!! welcome his wife..the 'Queen of heaven."

Is that part of being your brother's keeper? If so, then being baptized for them may be authorized.

Apparently some people did that back then, but its a scripture telling us it doesn't do any good. Its not something the Christian church does.
