They sound good to me. As far as the sweetener thing though, Splenda is the best for the diet and most likely won't be a problem during the Induction Phase. I wish you good luck on the diet! It's helped me to lose about 100 pounds and keep it off (and saved me from diabetes.) If anyone gives you grief over it and pushes low-fat diets on you, just ignore them. The food pyramid is (for lack of better words) a load of crap, and low-fat diets just aren't the key. When you go low-carb, your body burns the fat, rather than carbs, for energy. This doesn't give you license to go out and chug a gallon of lard, but it does mean that you shouldn't agonize so much over counting fats as just plain carbs.

Another hint, if you begin to do quite a bit of exercise, make sure you slowly begin to add some more carbs into your diet. Not a ton, but just a bit more so your body isn't deprived of the energy it needs to make the exercise beneficial. I personally have taken up cycling and love it. It tones the legs but doesn't stress your knees like running does. I find that I don't have to add too many carbs to my diet to keep myself from having problems. At this point, I average around 30-40ish carbs a day, though I really try to cut down when I know I'm not going to get to go out cycling that day, or at least not my usual 10 miles. So, slowly add carbs if you begin to do a lot of regular exercise, but do it cautiously (I'm sure this is all in the book somewhere but I say it just as a reminder.) So, good luck and stay strong, it'll all be worth it!

Good common sense tips, although I've always had several cups of coffee and or tea on diet. I didn't lose weight for 4 or 5 days and then started losing pretty regularly.

Those are good tips. But remember to read the book. This diet once done is a for life.
