that wherever in the world there is a major catastrophe there are the same group of old women with their dirty clothes and veiled faces. They wail and beat their heads, putting on a show of grief and desperation!! I think that these are paid to travel around to put on this show!! Is this work full time and who pays them? On one day alone I spotted the same group in Armenia, Afghanistan, Iraq and low and behold, they turned up at the stoning in the film The Life Of Brian! just who are these woman?

There are simply too many of these groups of women to be able to be in different areas of the world at the same time. Therefore like McDonalds it must be a franchise operation!!!

Slightly insensitive for what was meant to be a joke. But it may be true. Either that or the press are skinflints and just film it all in one studio. I heard it was the same one where they faked the moon landings.

Don't worry it's not deja vu. They're probably Muslims. What you described is the common mourning custom in the middle east and central Asia. I have an Asian friend who told me about her female relatives doing this at her cousin's funeral recently.

In some cultures it is in fact custom to have a grieving party when eg someone dies, they do infect hire people to weep hysterically... Glad we don't have it in Holland!
