There is no scientific evidence anywhere that time ever stops. Molecular motion never ceases. Even at absolute zero, bond flexing continues.
There was no time zero.

Humans think in linear terms because this is how we experience time. Hence, there is always a beginning and an end. The beginning can be our birth and the end our death. Or, we can look outside ourselves to an ultimate beginning and end. The problem is that our minds cannot grasp the magnitude of these questions to reliably ask them or answer them.
If the ultimate answer to life, the universe, and everything is 42, then what is the question? :)
Some questions cannot be answered.

I think we're kind of wired up that way, after so many millions of years of evolution, to always have the attitude of looking for causes behind effects, because it's helped our ancestors to survive in their environment.
Unfortunately it can lead to trouble when you go beyond the everyday world, into the very small (quantum physics) or the very large (relativity) or the very old (changes that have taken place over millions of years, the Big Band, singularities), etc......

I know, theist use that defense against evolution. But the question is, if things have to have a begining then who created God? Where did he come from? If that is unknown, then why can't the origin of the universe and our evolution be left unknown? Perhaps it is all beyond our comprehension, leave it that way.

right,, it's possible that things (in one form or another) always existed. bertrand russell said that it's only lack of creativity that would lead people to the idea that there had to be a beginning.
