Oh yes, definitely. That's the beginning of wisdom. After fear of God, the next steps are fear of Satan, then fear of homosexuals, then fear of terrorists, then fear of atheists. When you properly fear all of these, you will have reached total wisdom.

Be aware of the those who would lead you astray. For example, Franklin D. Roosevelt, who said "The only thing to fear is fear itself." Or this piece of extreme blasphemy, by Frank Herbert:

"I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain. "

Clearly, if only you remain, then God and Satan have abandonded you! So, be sure to nurture your fear at every opportunity, it is the only sure path to God and Wisdom.

Since its in the bible, I believe it. The bible is the infallible word of God. To recognize God as the creator and heavenly Father is the first thing a person should do in a quest for knowledge. A study of the bible could last a life time, but you should be saved first. The things of God are intricate and wonderful to explore. Without God all you have is the wisdom of this world, with God you can learn from the creator of the world.

Psalm 111:10
10) The fear of the Lord is the Beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth forever.

Fear of the lord is exactly what it says. Fear God of the punishment that you will recieve if you do not obey his commandments. In order to obtain the wisdom that god gives. you must get knowledge of God; then the understanding of God. Then once we know and understand that either we are going to serve God and obey Him or to hell we all are going; wisdom will kick in and we will learn to make wise choices, based on the knowledge that only god can give. in the book of
PROVERBS 2:6
6) For the Lord giveth wisdom; out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding

So yes the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. I hope that this answers you question. I pray for you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The fear of God is the respect of the Awsome reality that God represents as who He is. How could you not respect the creator of the Universe. God does not prevent wisdom. It is given as you can handle the responsibility of it. What you know you are suppose to give and at the same time not cast pearls to the unbelieving persons. That means to those that cannot receive it becase they are not prepared vessels. god know it all and with His wisdom comes discernment. That give you the ablility to know what is what. The key word is surrender daily to His will and move forward, he will never let you down and you will learn to respect Him in His wisdom.
