I have this boyfriend, and he's really nice and sweet and all, but my family doesn't like him. he's not 'good enough' for me. they don't really know we're together, but they don't even want him as my friend. it's not like they forbid me to be with him, but they will make fun of me for it, and tease me, and i'll never hear the end of it.
my friends don't think he's good enough for me either, or even complete strangers. He was good enough for other girls, but when it comes to me, i 'can do so much better' so what do i do?

the real reason i'm asking this, is because i can't ignore the other people. they're right.
he's not bad. he's just not right for me. i really could do better, and i have the chance to, but i just don't. i'm not really that happy with him, but i can't seem to let go. i don't know if they're getting to me or not.

if you really like him, do whatever you want. it shouldn't matter what your family thinks, or what your friends have to say. if your friends want to tell you about what a horrible and wrong decision your making, they must not really be your friends, then huh?
while your family, probably will eventually turn out to be right, but you'll never know if you just do what they say, right? life is about making your own choices, and not following what everybody else says, blindly.
who cares if you can do better, maybe you will do better, later on. just because you want to be with him now, doesn't mean theres no such thing as the future, if or when this doesnt turn out the way you'd like it to.
look at it this way. bill gates, was a looser with no friends in high school. you think his wife regrets marrying him? she married him before they got married, before he made it big. do you think she knew? no, she didnt, she just followed her heart. she saw something else, besides a loaner.
do what you think is right. who knows what will happen? theres not a single person on this earth who knows everything, and can tell you what will really end up happening.

Consider all comments, you may get some specifics as to why they don't like him. Ask them to be more specific as to why he is not good enough for you. You might get some new insights into the matter and might even change your thinking about him!
In the end what really matters is FAMILY. So don't be to anxious to disregard they're opinions so quickly.

Have you stopped to try and determine why everyone "even complete strangers" thinks you can do better? There might be a legitimate reason that you aren't letting yourself see. You may just be very stubborn about anyone advising you on your relationships.
If you still can't understand their reasoning, just continue seeing him and enjoy your friendship with him.

Just ignore what everyone else is saying. It's your life and not theirs. If you really like him than it shouldn't matter. I have the same problem as you do and I just don't let them get to me, because I know that it's my choice and not theirs. I love my boyfriend and no one else can change that. But if what they're saying keeps getting to you and you have this feeling, than I would check it out. I have also had a problem with another guy, where he was cheating on me and everyone else but me knew it. They tried to tell me until I checked it out. And it turned out that he was.

It's all up to you to decide, don't let anyone else get in the way of your life. Do what you want and if you really like him, stay with him.

You need to be specific as to why your friends and family don't like him. It could be they are concerned for your welfare and want to head you away from a bad choice.
Tell us why they don't like him.

your family can not choose who you want to be with, it is your choice to be with and to like who ever you want to like. You have rights and you have the right to choose who you like, they your family do not know what kind of person you like, families can not choose for you only you can choose who to like and not to like,
That is a human right!!!!!!!
So do what you want, do what your heart says to do.
