It is actually the semen that has the cleaning effect, you should use fresh each time and at least 2 times a day. It should be swallowed after othewise decay will set in.
But if you have a beard, try not to spill any, it is damned difficult to remove from your beard

To know for sure, you need to brush twice a day with it for a week. Who knows, you may never go back to regular toothpaste.
