Is it a disorder or just what interest you/what doesn't interest you? Any info you could fill me in would be great because I have to read books for school and every time I start to read I start getting tired and alot of times actually fall asleep. I use to read alot when I was younger (5-13) and then i didn't read much for 2 years and now I can't read long before I get extremely drowsy. Thanks all.

actually it has a scientific reason. Your eyes while you are sleeping move back and forth as if you were reading a book from side to side. It triggers something in the brain and makes it think it is time to sleep. Plus reading can be pretty boring if the lack of comprehension is there (like me). The bad thing is i don't think there is a way to avoid it other than to listen to an audio tape to receive the information instead of reading.

You might need glasses. Visit an eye specialist, friend. Good luck.
I used to wonder about the "interest" aspect. If you are reading something that really is of interest to you, you will probably not notice it at first. Eventually, if the problem is there, it will make itself known. End the mystery and see a GOOD eye doctor. Don't fool around with the health of your eyes. It may be a problem, other than the need for glasses

OH MY GOSH I HAD EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM!!!!

it was really annoying and i found it very hard to read aloud but after 4 months of it i went to my optitions and he said that it turns out my LEFT eye needs glasses a little as its weak and my RIGHT eye is very strong

so if i got glasses it wouldnt be good for my right eye!! so in the end i had these drop things and it went away after a week!!

so go to your optitions and get it sorted out or you could REALLY damage your eyes!!

oh and also make sure you have good light when you are reading

good luck :)

It is possible that you would benefit from an eye exam. It is also possible that your mind isn't engaged in what it is that you're reading (boredom). You can try reading aloud, take breaks and get up and walk around. I would advise against using artificial stimulants. Eat well and get plenty of sleep and exercise to increase your overall energy and stamina levels.

Well before you do read organise yourself. Only read what interests you at that moment, have timed breaks. Avoid over reading and try to test yourself. All the best!

may be it has to do with staring at something for a long time, not really sure about that, but that would be my guess.

maybe it's because your eyes keep going from one side to the other.
