Assuming the cube's side is 1 foot or 12"

So, vol. of cube = 12"x12"x12"

So, number = (12/8)^3 = (3/2)^3 = 3.375

Almost 3.

Assuming you mean blocks that are nominally 8 in X 8 in X 16 in, there are 4 in a cube.

What are the dimensions of the concrete blocks? Just find the smallest number that will produce a cube. Equal dimensions for all 3 sides.
